Tribute performance by Aussie Hall of Frame Band.

Moshcam

Mental As Anything are Aussie music legends! Since 1976, they began as a party band and brilliantly crafted pop hits that evoked wonderful memories. Songs include, The Nips Are Getting Bigger, Come Around, If You Leave Me Can I Come Too and Too Many Times.

To commemorate their 40th anniversary, Mental As Anything teamed up with Moshcam to record a tribute concert exclusively for their most loyal fans.

Meeting Greedy Smith was pretty mental, here I had an Aussie icon standing in the edit suite.

- Aaron Petersen

Directed by Josh Groom and together with Will Berryman from Moshcam, they came to Cobox with a complicated set of rushes, and an output goal of 1x 90 minute feature concert.

The complication was five different camera types, five different camera recorded formats, a separately mixed post audio recording, two back-to-back live performances recorded with a click track and one long list of instructions and notes from the legend himself, Andrew Greedy Smith. The idea was simple, edit together the two performances and utilise, essentially, 10 camera angles. Needless to say, easier said than done.

Cobox requested Aaron Petersen to jump back-on-the-tools to make this happen and of course he didn’t shy away from the challenge. Over four gruelling days, Aaron managed to produce the live performance beyond expectations and also had the privilege of sitting alongside Greedy for the final day of editing and approvals.

Sadly, Andrew Greedy Smith suddenly passed away early December 2019. He is survived by his fiancee Fiona Docker and son Harvey.
